Great weekend for Bargoed at Aberaeron 7's

Friday saw the under 16's sweep all opposition before them and even had to be told to ease down on their unfortunate opponents. They won the competition at a canter scoring 30+ points in the final against Builth wells. Coaches Jeremy Rogers and Huw Evans were over the moon with the style of sevens that the boys played and were disappointed not to be allowed to enter two teams when 17 players turned up.

On Saturday, the youth made excellent progress in their age group winning their pool games but eventually losing in the semi-final.

Sunday saw the seniors take their turn. The team consisted of Craig Lynch, Lee Meades, Huw Waythe, Matt Hutchion, Danny Jones, Lewis Prothero, Lee Pearson, Brett Wakefield and late additions Chris Morgan and Chris Rogers. The team did well winning all their pool games before beating a strong Panthers side in the semi-final. However these victories had come at a cost with both Chris's clashing heads and bleeding heavily, Brett collecting a nasty wound to his hand and Huw suffering with leg and knee soreness.

The final was one game too far with a powerful Camarthen side proving too strong for a brave but shattered Barg. Chairman Neil Carter was ecstatic with all the teams performances and thanked all the travelling parents and supporters who, once again turned Aberaeron into little Bargoed!
